Rescued
As we gathered one morning to start the day,
Floyd said, “let’s go to the river and play!”
We said, “OK.” and took off at a trot,
No water no lunch among the lot.
Three and a half miles down I-35,
We were a little bit tired when we did arrive.
There wasn’t much water but a lot of sand,
Just being together made the day so grand.
We played until we could laugh no more,
That’s when we thought about the hike in store.
Slowly we climbed up the river bank,
As we trudged towards home our hearts just sank.
We knew this time we had made a mistake,
Our steps were heavy as we pondered our fate.
Our Guardian Angels knew just what to do,
As just in time came our great rescue.
Some might say it was just plain luck,
I didn’t care, for there was my dad in his truck.
