Heart Facts
The human heart beats about 70 times a minute. The shrew’s heart beats 600 times a minute, the hummingbird’s heart beats 1300 times a minute, and the blue whale’s heart beats 10 times a minute.
The human heart creates enough pressure to squirt 30 feet.
If laid out in a straight line, the average person’s circulatory system would be nearly 60,000 miles long-enough to circle the Earth 2 1/2 times.
To allow room for the heart, the left lung is smaller than the right lung.
A heart will thump about 43 million times in a year and about 3 billion times in a lifetime.
