Winter Woes

It’s looking a lot like winter I see through the window pane,
Instead of guys out mowing icicles are growing in the freezing rain.

People are slipping and sliding before falling upon their rump,
Cars are skidding and colliding sometimes with more than a bump.

But, I’m safely at home and the ice means nothing to me,
Until there is a crack and a limb falls from a tree.

On its way to the ground it brings a power line down and suddenly I’m filled with dread,
For with no TV my shows I can not see and I’ll have to write this poem instead.
