Jewels

Many are the fools who don’t understand,
How to hold a precious jewel that fell into their hand.

They treat it like a stone to toss into a lake,
Because they can not give all they know is how to take.

They see not the brilliance of an emerald in the red light,
The spellbinding read of a ruby is wasted on their sight.

So, they toss their jewel inside and say “I’ll pick it up someday,”
But, someone that knows its value quickly carries it away.

That’s how I found mine; sparkling with a smile diamond bright,
I clutched her in my arms held on with all my might.
