Let There be Candles
Here we are in the twentieth century
our technology level is out of sight,
Yet, everywhere we look
we see burning candles sitting next to an electric light.
These candles aren’t cheap
as they have scented or designer in their name,
They give you a delightful smell
is their claim to fame.
There could be hidden a meaning
lurking as quiet as a mouse,
That says we’ll cover up the
disgusting smell that permeates your nasty house.
Instead of a thorough cleaning
with a manly cleaner like Pine-sol,
We light up a few candles and say there
that will take care of it all.
We say how nice they look in their
high-dollar designer glass,
Now, if we can figure out how to
increase the short time they last.
It would be just as cheap
I know without a doubt,
To pay someone to clean your house
and not have all these candles sitting about.
