Golf~A Funny Little Game
Golfers must have come up short
when God gave out the brains,
For I’ve seen them in the blazing sun
polar bear cold and even in the rain.
What possess them to hit and
chase a little dimpled white ball,
When they had it in the first place
I’ll never understand at all.
They say that golfing is relaxing
but why is way beyond me,
How relaxing can it be when a man
wraps a club around a tree?
They spend all day having fun or
so they say it to be,
But the fun really starts in the
clubhouse after the very last tee.
They drive, they cuss, they chip
and they scream; a two putt is a curse,
For a grown man to cry over a game
I can think of nothing worse.
The reason they keep their own score
is easy for me to see why,
They write it on a piece of paper and
call it a little white lie.
Every time a new club is made
they think it’s their savior, no doubt,
They charge to the store with dreams of glory
only to have reality to quickly come out.
It seems that golfers
would stop and think,
If you have no natural ability
you’re still going to stink!
I know there are many people
who like to play the game,
And I will grudgingly admit they’re
probably quite sane.
I really tried to understand but
I just can’t find the fun,
Of hitting balls and chasing them
and wondering what good I have done?!?
