The Afternoon of Christmas

‘Twas, the afternoon of Christmas
and oh what a sight,
There was presents and wrappings
piled to a great height.

Dad was asleep
all sprawled in his chair,
On the TV
football did blare.

But, touch the remote
and all hell will break loose,
You’d think that you were
the Christmas dinner goose.

Junior was in his room
with the computer booted up,
Watching all the babes
show off their stuff.

Big sister was modeling
all the new clothes she got,
There wasn’t much to them
maybe that’s why she looked so hot.

Mom was in the kitchen
cleaning up the dinner mess,
All the while wondering why
she never gets to rest?

Every time dad would snore
her blood pressure would soar,
She vowed on the spot
I’ll do this no more!

But you know how mothers are
they’re always making vows and such,
And we know they can’t ever keep them
because they love us too darn much.
