Normandy

It was history in the making
for the men headed towards shore,
Filled with the blood and screams
of the stricken on, June 6, 1944.

The greatest armada to ever sail
plowing forward with a determined will,
To spit their human cargo onto the beach
in a hail of steel.

There were fathers and sons, husbands, and brothers
cut down in the twinkling of an eye,
The beach and water ran red
as the heroes came forth to die.

They died to protect our freedom
they died so we might live,
Many thanks to our fallen heroes
humbly everyone should give.
