My Heart is an Open Book
When I was a young lad
I had no girl of my own,
No one to take to the movies
no one to call on the phone.
It was a sad and lonely existence
I was afraid it would never end.
Would a girl ever love me
would her precious love to me, she send?
I thought I was surely doomed
to a life so lonely and bare,
But, I guess the Lord had pity
for all of a sudden, she was there.
I don’t know how I knew
maybe it was ESP,
I knew I had to have her
I knew she was the girl for me.
Would she ever notice would she take
the time to look?
Would she be interested enough in the cover
to get to know the book?
She seemed OK with the cover
the book was easy to read,
It said, if only you’ll have me
I’d give you more love than you’ll need.
I don’t know how much she read
but she said her love was mine,
So, I knew without a doubt
my life was going to be just fine.
