 From the Sooner Fans!!
A new job in Norman has been taken
one of the toughest in the land,
It can be fulfilled
we’ll say he certainly is the man.
But should he happen to stumble
and not reach the ultimate goal,
We’ll surely hang him in effigy
from the highest and stoutest pole.
We are a fickle bunch
from this prairie we do dwell,
And if we can’t regularly hang half a hundred we’ll scream
"Oh Lord, how and where did we fail?"
Remember we don’t do well in losing
we like the game wrapped up at the half,
So we can talk about our opponent’s misfortune
clap our hands, and happily laugh.
Now, we realize you’re not Barry or Bud
and you have your own technique,
So, we don’t care how you do it
just give us Sooner Magic every week.
Please don’t judge us too harshly
at least until you understand our plight,
There’s not much here on the plains
so our team is like our shining knight.
Who goes forth to fight our battles
to carry our banner far and wide,
To show everyone in the land
the reason for our Sooner Pride.
