TOO HIGH AND MIGHTY
The white people came uninvited
they came to our land a stranger,
Conquest was in their minds so the Indian people’s hearts grew much anger.
Anger for the intrusion
by the so-called superior race,
Anger for our naive ness
for not realizing the on slaught we were about to face.
We did not understand the white man and his ways we could not change,
We just wanted to keep our way of life
and not have it to be rearranged.
But the white man felt he knew best because he was so smart indeed,
And the poor heathen Red Man
of his freedom he had no need.
The whites thought they were so mighty
their actions were blessed by the Almighty’s name,
But they missed one simple truth
their God and our Great Spirit
was really one and the same.
