 THE SPIRIT OF THE PEOPLE
The Indian people respected the Great Spirit
they thanked him for the bountiful land,
They took only what was needed
they knew that’s what the Great Spirit had planned.
They lived their lives in balance
with what nature could provide,
They knew that waste was wrong
so by the Great Spirit’s ways they would abide.
And just as their lives were provided nature as well had her needs,
To be able herself to replenish
so all our people she could feed.
