THE EAGLE CRIES
The sacred eagle sees all
from his perch high in the sky,
He sees my people's affliction
he sees my people cry.
Our heart and spirit
soars with the master of the air,
He rejoiced in our victories
but now cries at our despair.
His tears rain down at
the sadness of our plight,
Our joy has disappeared
covered by the blackness of night.
From the snow-capped mountains
to the sand of the ocean shore,
This great land of our fathers
is worth dying for.
As our blood flowed freely
as our people became so few,
To keep our heritage alive
we must surrender, we knew.
We gave up our freedom
we lost our sacred land,
Only the native people
our sadness can understand.
