PUNISHED
Oh Great Spirit
what was our terrible deed?
That caused you to turn your back during the time of our greatest need.
We raised our voice to the sky
we danced to appease our God,
But our pleas of help you did not hear
for you allowed us to be trampled into the sod.
We took care of your sacred land took only what we would need,
We knew it was up to us
so the land our people it could feed.
We have always asked for your wisdom and guidance for our life,
But you gave our land to the white man
and pierced our hearts like a knife.
We learned from your many creatures
so your ways we would understand,
We respected all your creations
we loved your bountiful land.
But now our ways are destroyed
our people are in deep despair,
Oh Great Spiritwhat was our terrible deed that caused you no longer to care?
