HUNTERS OF THE PLAINS

The herd senses danger
as they hear the rumbling sound,
Of the hunters upon their ponies
as towards their prey they are bound.

Quickly the herd moves sounding
like thunder in their flight,
A moving sea of brown
most welcome to the hunter’s sight.

For the hunters live off the land
 upon Mother Earth they depend,
To provide food and clothing
to their people she will send.

That’s why the shaggy beast
is as welcome as the rains,
As they stave off hunger and famine from the hunters upon the plains.
