ANYTHING FOR LOVE
As silent as the night is black
the young warrior creeps away,
He slides the canoe into the water, knowing what the elders would say.
He knows the risk of his decision
he also feels the pain deep in his heart,
Just because she is from another tribe the elders say they must stay apart.
Maybe it’s because they are now old and don’t remember the time when they were young,
When the sight of a certain young maiden made them ache as if by a bee they had been stung.
He’s pulled by an invisible force
that transcends time and space,
It cares nothing of difference between village
tribes or race.
But outcasts, the lovers may be and always have to roam,
If the hatred their people can not tame
and give the young people a home.
