NATURE’S REST
The landscape has changed
since Mother Earth slowed her pace,
Everywhere we look
we see her autumn face.
Now she loudly yawns
and sleepily lays down her head,
All snuggled and warm
in her quiet winter bed.
The annual need for sleep
draws her eyelids closed,
As so dull and lifeless
the landscape is now posed.
Soon we will be
in winter dark and deep,
With only the promise of spring
our fragile spirits to keep.
