Holding Down the Couch
That youngest buddy of mine, a character he can be,
Without even knowing it, he’s got a joke on me.
It always bring a laugh, as he says it in his little guy way,
I guess it’ll always be with me until my very last day.
It’s happened several times as I’m taking a little rest,
My little buddy comes by and gives it his very best.
Someone will ask for Pa-Pa, he makes it sound like I’m a slouch,
As he says matter a fact, “Pa-pa’s holding down the couch!”
