The Code of Silence
When the kids start to talk
we think oh how sweet,
But then for years on end
they never miss a beat.
We hear endless chatter
what could have them so wired?
Don't their sweet little jaws
ever get tired?
But now we have heard it so long
our brain has become numb,
At first we don't realize
the silence has come.
It started about puberty
when parents are no longer cool,
We ask them “What’s up?”
they roll their eyes like we're a fool.
For now, they've returned
to their silent mode,
It must be some strange
universal teenage code.
