If I Could
If I could return
to any age,
I guess about ten
would be the stage.
With comic books
and model cars,
And being in awe of
the countless stars.
When most important
was having fun,
Not having many rules
of how it was done.
BB guns and dirt
clod fights,
Sleeping outside on
warm summer nights.
A time when
innocent fun was had,
We were kind of ornery
but not really bad.
We teased the girls
to let them know,
They caught our eye
but couldn’t let it show.
With eyes wide open
we’d meet each day,
Full of hopes and dreams
and a need to play.
